  • 🇦🇺 [12 May 2026] OpenAI’s bid for Tomoro AI under review by ACCC: The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has initiated an assessment of OpenAI’s proposed acquisition of 100% of Tomoro AU Ltd, and is seeking public submissions regarding the potential impact on competition by the deadline of 19 May 2026. Tomoro is an AI delivery consultancy that helps businesses implement AI solutions built around commercially available generative AI technology (with a focus on OpenAI’s models). The ACCC invites stakeholders to provide insights on concerns regarding the impact of the acquisition on competition, including if OpenAI and Tomoro are close competitors and there are not many alternatives or if one is a major supplier to competitors of the other.

Europe

  • 🇬🇧 [14 May 2026] King Speech reveals that UK government planning regulatory overhaul on AI and cybersecurity: King Charles III has revealed in the King’s Speech that the UK government plans to reform its digital and cyber regulation framework, which includes (among other planned amendments) the introduction of a Regulating for Growth Bill which aims to establish a framework for AI oversight, addressing concerns about data privacy and security while promoting broader adoption of AI technologies among UK businesses.
