  • 🇪🇺 [6 June 2025] EU could postpone certain parts of EU AI Act, tech chief says: It is reported that the European Commission’s tech chief, Executive Vice President Henna Virkkunen, has indicated that the EU may postpone certain parts of the EU AI Act if the necessary standards and guidelines are not ready on schedule. Speaking in Luxembourg during a meeting with EU digital ministers, Virkkunen emphasized that delaying some aspects of the AI Act remains an option to ensure proper implementation. The EU’s AI regulations, which were finalized in late 2023, are set to be phased in over the next eighteen months to address the risks posed by AI technologies.

  • 🇪🇺 [6 June 2025] European Commission has launched targeted stakeholder consultation on implementation of AI Act's rules for high risk systems: The European Commission has launched a targeted stakeholder consultation to collect input from stakeholders on practical examples of AI systems and issues to be clarified in the Commission’s guidelines on the classification of high-risk AI systems and future guidelines on high-risk requirements and obligations, as well as responsibilities along the AI value chain. For context, pursuant to Article 6(5) AI Act, the Commission is required to provide guidelines specifying the practical implementation of Article 6, which sets out the rules for high-risk classification, by 2 February 2026. The consultation closes on 18 July 2025.
