Weekly Trend Analysis
Across Asia, regulatory strategy has shifted from abstract guidelines to direct legal enforcement targeting deepfakes and identity theft. Take the Philippines, which recently classified photorealistic synthetic media as biometric data, bringing non-consensual AI depictions squarely under privacy laws. South Korea is taking a commercial route instead, updating its competition laws to ban unauthorized digital clones of faces and voices. India, meanwhile, is prioritizing sheer enforcement speed—demanding traceable metadata and automated detection while squeezing takedown windows down to as little as two to three hours.
